About Us
Our Mission:
To contact as many of our classmates from Shelby High School's (SHS) Senior Class of 1979 and invite them to the 35th year reunion to be held in Shelby, NC at a time and date undetermined as of yet in 2014. We want to be inclusive of all who attended school with us (Elementary on up) regardless of whether they graduated with the class or moved away and graduated elsewhere or earned a GED, etc.
Our Goals:
To plan and organize our 35th year SHS reunion!
To gather and update current contact information from our classmates and in the process to make as many of them aware of this website so they can update us when their contact information changes and when the time comes, to refer to it for news and updates regarding the next reunion.
To honor the late Dan Moore (SHS Principal from 1971 - 1979) with a project to rename the street in front of Shelby High School from "Textile Street" to "Dan Moore Way" and to follow this up by raising money for one of the two existing scholarship funds in his name.
Our Challenges:
Time - Five more years and counting!!
Human Resources - Still so many missing classmates but we have some time and a website to help with the searching.. Thank you to those of you who completed the Contact / Registration form on this website for our 30th year reunion and sent us your contact details. It made our job much easier!
Funding - We are greatly appreciative of Susan (Starnes) Whitmire's generous donation of the band for this reunion! This reduced the cost to all classmates for our Saturday event.
